Job Opportunity: Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) & MLRO in Frankfurt
We are collaborating with a longstanding client, an overseas corporate bank, seeking a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) & MLRO to join their team in Frankfurt. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience working with BaFin regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the Compliance and AML departments independently, reporting directly to the Senior Management Board (SMB) of the Branch on all compliance and AML matters, ensuring a sound and effective compliance function.
* Provide periodic Compliance and AML reports to SMB and Head Office (monthly and quarterly).
* Assess, analyze, and promptly report significant compliance-related notices, regulatory changes, frauds, enforcement actions, breaches, or incidents to SMB and Head Office.
* Advise and support all Branch business and operational areas to ensure compliance with German and European regulations and Head Office requirements.
* Participate in team processes and ad hoc projects, providing analysis and recommendations, including review or processing of alerts.
* As the AML Officer under the German AML Act (GwG), serve as the central contact for law enforcement authorities, the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control, the German Financial Intelligence Unit, and BaFin. The CCO's name will be registered with BaFin and Bundesbank.
* Conduct compliance, AML/CTF risk assessments to identify, categorize, and evaluate risks within the Branch.
* Develop, update, and implement internal policies and procedures for AML/CTF measures.
* Investigate AML/CTF suspicious alerts or cases escalated by the Compliance Assistant.
* Handle reporting under Money Laundering Act Sec. 43 (1) and respond to information requests.
* Identify training needs for staff, develop training materials, and deliver compliance, AML/CTF training sessions as per the training plan.
* Ensure all staff receive adequate compliance and AML/CTF training according to schedule.
* Monitor regulatory developments, assess their impact on the Branch, update relevant documents, and provide guidance.
* Review and verify the maintenance and update of the Branch’s policies, procedures, and corporate documents in compliance with German regulations and Head Office standards.
* Act as the whistleblowing function, analyzing complaints and taking appropriate actions.
* Coordinate the Branch’s complaints handling processes to ensure compliance with standards and guidance.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5+ years experience in compliance within a corporate banking environment.
* Experience dealing with regulators.
* Fluent in German and English.
* Ability to work full-time in the office.
* Available for an August start on a 2-year fixed-term contract, with potential for permanence.
