Are you passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence, physics, and engineering? Then join us in shaping the future of technical design and AI-based simulation! In this position, you will actively contribute to the application and advancement of generative methods and physics-informed learning for engineering problems. You will develop innovative approaches to intelligently generate and simulate complex technical systems - from hardware designs to molecular structures. Your responsibilities include:



* Independent conduct and publication of research results at top international conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
* Development and implementation of novel model and learning architectures
* Co-supervision of Bachelor's and Master's students
* Presentation at international conferences and workshops



This scientific position offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD.





What you contribute

* Excellent Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
* Strong programming skills in Python and experience with PyTorch and/or JAX
* Strong interest in engineering problems and motivation to explore new application domains
* Experience with HPC infrastructure and collaborative tools (Git) is a plus
* Deep expertise in one of the following areas:



Generative AI

*
o Hands-on experience with modern generative models, such as diffusion models and flow matching
o Solid understanding of the theoretical foundations of generative methods
o Experience implementing generative models for non-standard data types
o Ideally, experience in AI for Design



or



ML-based simulations

*
o Solid theoretical foundations in partial differential equations and numerical methods
o Strong knowledge and experience with ML-based simulation methods (e.g., PINNs, Neural Operators)
o Ideally, practical experience with system identification methods (e.g., SINDy, PySR)



* Publications, conference presentations, or other scientific activities are a plus (feel free to include publications with your application)
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a structured manner
* Excellent written and spoken English skills
* On-site availability to foster creative collaboration among colleagues

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.



The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
