The main function of a Hardware Technical Program Manager is to provide successful definition, implementation, and delivery of complex programs that require cross-functional collaboration and interdependencies across a group of projects and/or related activities.
Responsibilities
* Deliver programs within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and budget under circumstances involving multiple moderate-probability, moderate-impact risk factors.
* Conduct program-level strategic planning, interact with management, resolve complex issues, and demonstrate excellent communication and team-building skills.
* Manage groups of internal employees and contractors serving on the project(s) to deliver systems and system enhancements that meet specified requirements.
* Manage communication within and between internal cross-functional and external partners.
* Coordinate and drive engineering design deliverables including specifications, DOE, and validation plans.
* Manage delivery of hardware components for development builds and drive qualification to meet mass production timelines.
* Create development, delivery, and qualification schedules based on system requirements, technical challenges, lead-times, and business needs.
* Manage program structure to optimize clarity and efficiency for program teams and leadership.
* Communicate program statuses, identifying potential setbacks, including vendor tooling schedules and design sprints.
* Ensure program documents are complete, current, and available for staff and leadership review.
Qualifications
* BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years experience working as a technology development program manager in consumer electronics.
* Experience working with overseas suppliers of hardware components.
* Experience in ODM, JDM, and CM vendor engagement models.
* Knowledge of phase gate approach to technology development programs.
* Experience with mechanical system development, design for manufacturing, tooling, validation, and characterization processes.
* Experience with program top issue tracking.
* Experience operating across multiple teams and programs.
* Proven people management and team-building skills.
* Project estimating, project scheduling & tracking, customer interaction and management, implementation planning in large organizations.
* Demonstrated ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities.
* Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization.
* Strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions.
* Adept at communicating, planning, with a high level of attention to detail.
