You will help evolve a product at the intersection of technology and behavioral science—building features that enable secure test delivery, scalable workflows, and a great user experience for professionals. You’ll collaborate closely with psychologists, researchers, and product teams, translating evidence-based methods into high-quality software that’s trusted by practitioners across sectors. Right now, Hogrefe Digital Solutions GmbH is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams (4-12 engineers) developing the Hogrefe Test System (HTS) - a web platform for comprehensive psychological online assessments. The role combines team management, technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
Lead, hire, mentor and develop engineering teams (4-12 engineers) while fostering inclusive, high-performing culture
Take ownership for team software - ensuring robustness, maintainability, operational excellence
Promote Agile, DevOps, CI/CD practices and healthy code review processes
Bridge team ↔ stakeholders, partner with Head of Engineering and other EMs for knowledge sharing
Guide system architecture and software design, encourage innovation and best practice
4+ years proven leadership managing software engineering teams (hiring, mentoring, performance)
~ Previous hands-on Software Engineer experience (Java and/or modern frontend web technologies - required for team credibility)
~ Strong track record delivering projects (technical excellence + timely execution)
~ Deep understanding of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD methodologies
~ Fluent German and English (spoken/written)
