Principal Duties and Responsibilities

(*Essential Duties)
1. Deliver area-wide programs, activities and events and assist in their evaluation. Develop, document and maintain standard operating procedures, program kits, and program reference manuals.
2. Assist in reviewing program and service needs within assigned area and in researching and recommending changes or new programs, activities and events based on results. Implement suggested and/or required changes.*
3. In cooperation with higher level colleagues, develop, improve and maintain working relationships with U.S. Military, local business, and community leadership to support procurement and growth of financial and other in-kind resources necessary for area operations.*
4. Execute special fundraising events within assigned area. Help to develop area-wide public awareness plans that support sustainable growth of sponsorships and other fundraising.*
5. Coordinate with area media outlets including online, print and broadcast, to inform and ensure coverage of programs and events.*
6. Monitor programs budget and assist with budget creation. Prepare, review and complete budget and expense reports.
7. Serve as liaison between internal USO resources, external vendors and donors in order to facilitate prompt problem resolution.*
8. May lead and mentor Area operations support staff and/or volunteers.
9. May be required to operate a USO or personal motor vehicle.
10. Backfill as requested for higher level operations staff and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

11. High school diploma or equivalent required.
12. Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
13. Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
14. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
15. Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
16. Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
17. Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license.
18. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid United States passport and valid foreign driver’s license* (in applicable locations/regions)
19. Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission.

20. This position is located in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Preference will be given to local candidates within commuting distance to the location.
21. U.S. Citizenship Required
22. This USO SOFA status position, in Germany, is available to U.S. Citizens only that are not normal residents of Germany or NATO family members who have immigration visa and SSN and meet specific conditions. This position does not provide logistical support.
