The position offered is limited to a period of 3 years. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft .
We are seeking a candidate with expertise in mineralogy and geochemistry for the interdisciplinary project "Georesearch for sustainability (GEO:N) - LangRes". The goal is to study long-term transport processes linked to deep geothermal reservoirs. This BMFTR-funded project will be carried out in cooperation between the Universities of Greifswald, Freiberg, Jena, Tübingen as well as the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in Leipzig and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). This subproject conducted at the University of Greifswald will develop synthetic sandstone analogues using mineral materials and will compare these with natural systems to constrain coupled processes linked to reservoir productivity. The research will also study three-dimensional (3D) pore networks and pore-filling minerals. Experience and willingness to acquire expertise in advanced electron microscopy (SEM, FIB-SEM, TEM) as well as standard petrophysical methods is also expected. The candidate will work closely together with the five other research assistants located around Germany and will have the opportunity to complete a doctoral dissertation based on the research results.

* Developing synthetic sandstones using alkali activation techniques of cementation
* Conducting extensive mineralogical and geochemical studies of synthetic and natural reservoir materials
* Evaluating and interpreting the collected data
* Performing in-depth analyses in collaboration with national partners and integrating their data
* Publishing findings in international, peer-reviewed scientific journals
* Participating in sampling campaigns in hydrothermal reservoirs in M-V
* Presenting research results at national and international conferences
