The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Göttingen invites applications for a temporary professorship with civil servant status (grade W1 NBesO) with tenure track (grade W2 NBesO) at the Institute of Computer Science at the earliest possible date :
W1 Professorship with tenure track to W2 in Artificial Intelligence (f/m/d)
The successful candidate will initially be appointed for a period of three years. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended for another three years. Transfer to a permanent professorship (W2) shall take place after another positive evaluation without the position being readvertised.
We are looking for a team-oriented and committed, internationally visible scholar with a track record of high-quality research. The position is deliberately open to all subfields of Artificial Intelligence and offers broad opportunities to shape independent research initiatives. We expect strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration with partners at the Göttingen Campus and the newly established Lower Saxony Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Causal Methods in Medicine (CAIMed). The appointee will be a member of the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS). They will be expected to contribute to the Campus’s strategic development. CIDAS is a central scientific unit of the University of Göttingen that fosters collaboration between partners of the Göttingen Campus, including the University Medical Center, the Cluster of Excellence “Multiscale Bioimaging”, several Max Planck Institutes, the Leibniz Institute for Primate Research, the Academy of Sciences, and the German Aerospace Center in Göttingen.
Appointment requirements are stipulated by Article 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the most current version of that law. As a rule, applicants who have obtained their doctorate from the University of Göttingen can only be considered for a junior professorship if after the completion of the doctoral thesis they have transferred to another university or worked for a minimum of two years in research elsewhere. The University of Göttingen is a Public Law Foundation and thereby entitled to award professorships. Details will be provided upon request.
