Job title: Senior Director/Executive Director, Commercial Development – Europe
Our client is a fast-growing, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical company focused on bringing transformative oncology and specialty treatments to patients worldwide. As they continue to expand their European footprint, we are seeking a Senior Director, Commercial Development to lead regional commercial strategy, partnerships, and commercial performance across Europe, including the UK. This role is critical in driving sustainable revenue growth, strengthening regional commercial execution, and converting strategic alliances into measurable business impact across diverse European healthcare systems.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned European pharmaceutical executive with a strong track record in oncology and/or specialty medicines, regional P&L leadership, and deep expertise in European market access and HTA processes.
Location: can be based either in Germany or UK(Remote)
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
* Define and execute the European commercial strategy in alignment with global and international objectives.
* Lead launch sequencing, lifecycle management, and portfolio optimization across EU and UK markets.
* Drive country prioritization and resource allocation across affiliates and partners.
* Potential future ownership of full P&L responsibilities across the region, including revenue planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
Alliance & Partnership Management
* Lead strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and regional/local collaborators.
* Oversee execution of licensing, co-development, co-promotion, and distribution agreements.
* Chair governance forums such as Joint Steering Committees and regional operating teams.
* Serve as the senior commercial leader for negotiations and long-term partnership management.
Market Access & HTA Leadership
* Shape regional pricing, reimbursement, and access strategies across Europe.
* Guide HTA submissions and reimbursement processes (e.g., NICE, G-BA, HAS, AIFA).
* Partner closely with Market Access, HEOR, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory to support national submissions.
* Navigate variations between EU5 and non-EU5 systems to maximize patient access and commercial uptake.
Cross-Functional & Independent Leadership
* Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across Commercial, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain.
* Operate as the senior commercial leader in Europe with high autonomy and accountability.
* Ensure strong alignment and execution between global strategy and country-level plans.
Strategic Planning & Performance Management
* Develop and execute European/UK commercial and alliance strategies.
* Monitor regional KPIs, affiliate performance, and partnership outcomes; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
* Contribute to long-term portfolio strategy, including future market-entry and expansion planning.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or related field.
* 15+ years of biopharma commercial experience, including commercial development, alliance management, and ideally commercial P&L ownership.
* 5+ years of direct P&L leadership at a regional or multi-country European level.
* Proven track record in oncology and/or specialty product commercialization across Europe and/or the UK.
* Deep understanding of European market access, HTA, and reimbursement environments.
* Strong leadership experience in affiliate-based and matrix organizations.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
* Fluent English; additional European languages preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience within multinational pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies with European regional scope.
* Established network across European affiliates, partners, and market access stakeholders.
* Experience with biosimilars and/or complex oncology launches in Europe.
* Prior experience driving regional business expansion or new market entry.
