At Emidat, we are building the first climate-native product management system for building material manufacturers. We aim to decarbonise building materials, making up 11% of global GHG emissions. We collect data from physical production processes, generate a digital product passport with verified environmental data and make it usable along the value chain. In short: One solution to assess, design, buy, sell and manage products - with environmental impact at the core.
With this, we are building the digital infrastructure to make it faster, easier, and more sustainable to build the world around us.
What you will work on
Your mission
Build the living digital representation of a manufacturer's entire product lifecycle — a system that is always current, always connected, fully programmable by humans and agents alike, and designed to serve as the authoritative source of truth not just for internal teams but for the EU's entire Digital Product Passport infrastructure.
We don’t think about our backend as a system that serves a frontend. We think of it as a structured, event-driven, compliance-grade model of a product's reality that any consumer (UI, API, agent, ERP, BIM tool, regulator) can interact with.
Engineers on this team are designing the data backbone that Emidat's entire product surface runs on, and that EU regulatory compliance depends on. The decisions made here in the next 12 months will shape the platform for decades.
In the first 6 months, you will
* Drive the long-term growth of Emidat by designing and shipping the foundation that powers how manufacturers capture, connect, and act on their production lifecycle.
* Integrate ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics), PIM systems, and supplier databases. The challenge is designing an integration protocol that's resilient to upstream chaos while maintaining a clean, normalized internal model.
* Build future-proof APIs that not only serve a human-driven frontend, but also an AI agent running autonomous update cycles, a third-party DPP platform, or a logistics system. Closely collaborate with designers, LCA experts, and customer success to translate real manufacturing workflows and sustainability requirements into clean, usable product experience.

What you should bring to this role
Minimum requirements
* 3+ years of professional Software Engineering experience, with strong proficiency in one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Go, or Rust)
* Experienced working in a high-paced environment (i.e <200 people start-up,
* Practical experience in Data Engineering, including building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with modern data stack tools.
* Experienced in leveraging AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate development and increase code quality.
* Business-Fluent English (written and verbal) for internal and external communication.
Nice to have’s
* Experience working with or integrating ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) to extract and synchronize manufacturing or supply chain data.
* Experience in a related field such as Climate/Data Analytics, Construction Tech, or Manufacturing is highly valued.
* Experience in managing Infrastructure as Code (e.g., OpenTofu), container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), building automated deployment pipelines
