Financial Controlling Manager Retail Banking | Berlin We are currently supporting a well established retail bank in Berlin in the search for a Financial Controlling Manager to join their finance division. This is a strategic role that combines financial oversight, regulatory compliance, and performance analysis to support the bank''s continued growth and operational excellence.
As Financial Controlling Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting internal and external audits, and delivering insights that drive informed decision making across the business. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, and lead initiatives to enhance financial transparency and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings under HGB and IFRS.
* Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
* Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to management.
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes.
* Support the implementation of new accounting standards and digital finance tools.
* Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes and internal controls.
Your Profile:
* Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in financial controlling or accounting, ideally in the retail banking sector.
* In depth knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail.
* Proficient in financial systems and Excel; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage.
* Fluent in German and English.
* Proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
