The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is setting up an innovative Heilbronn Data Science Center (HDSC) at the TUM Cus Heilbronn. Up to threeprofessorships in the field of Algorithms and Methods in Data Science,endowed by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, are to be established. The positions are W2 fixed term positions (6 years) with tenure track option to tenured W3 positions (Associate Professor) or tenured W3 (Associate or Full) positions, to begin as soon as possible.The TUM herewith invites applications for professorships in the following research areas:Mathematical foundations of MLExplainability, trustworthiness, and robustness of MLDeep learning architectures and Generative AIBig data and cloud based systemsHuman centered data analytics and data visualizationScientific EnvironmentThe professorships will be assigned to the TUM School of Computation, Information & Technology, Department of Computer Science, located at the TUM Cus Heilbronn and affiliated with the HDSC.The Heilbronn region is a strong and successful high tech region in Europe with many cooperation opportunities and various educational institutions. In particular, the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI) constitutes a unique innovation platform out of Heilbronn. The HDSC is intended to act as a thematic link between various disciplines especially Computer Science and Management to achieve advances in Data Science.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities include research and teaching in the university''s bachelor and master programs, as well as the promotion of early career scientists. Teaching responsibilities include contributing to the "Information Engineering" study programs at the TUM Cus Heilbronn. Participation in the conception and development of possibly further study programs is desired.QualificationsWe are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level (please see www.tum.de/en/faculty recruiting faq/ for further information).A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
