The Department of AI4Quantum – Machine Learning for Quantum Simulation and Computing is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) in Quantum Algorithms for Fluid and Environmental Flow Modelling.
Your tasks
1. Development and implementation of numerical and algorithmic methods for the simulation of fluid-dynamical or environmental systems
2. Experiences with research on quantum and hybrid quantum–classical algorithms for solving partial differential equations
3. Implementation, testing and benchmarking of computational methods on high-performance computing and quantum computing platforms
4. Analysis and validation of results using classical reference models and simulation data
5. Documentation of research results and contribution to scientific publications and project reports
Your profile
6. Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Modeling and Simulation or related field
7. Numerical solution of partial differential equations
8. Scientific computing / high-performance computing
9. Algorithmic modeling and simulation
10. Fundamentals of machine learning or quantum computing
11. Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
12. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
13. Willingness to collaborate in interdisciplinary research teams
14. Good written and oral communication skills
15. Motivation to engage in scientific research and method development
16. Programming skills in Python and/or C/C++
17. Experience with scientific software tools and numerical libraries
18. Familiarity with Linux-based computing environments
19. English language proficiency (written and spoken)
