About the Role
Location Germany Bayern Erlangen Company Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG Organization Grid Technologies Business Unit Solutions Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Experienced Professional A Snapshot of Your Day As a SCADA Architect, you will be a key contributor to the development of next-generation Control & Protection HVDC and FACTS systems. You will design and implement holistic SCADA and communication architectures, including both HMI visualization and communication functionalities in a challenging environment. Your role bridges the gap between system-level concept creation and hands-on engineering, ensuring robust, modular, scalable, and innovative SCADA solutions. How You’ll Make an Impact
1. You will be part of the Operation Level Software Team in the Grid Flow Platform development with focus on R&D activities.
2. You design holistic SCADA system architectures for critical infrastructure HVDC and FACTS platforms, including HMI components, communication gateways and monitoring functionalities.
3. You interpret abstract requirements and translate them into system-level requirement and operational concept specifications.
4. Work hand in hand with IT, IT-Sec, Communication Network and Control architects to incorporate Security by Design for innovative distributed SCADA systems with multiple stations and subunits.
5. Be a crucial stakeholder towards plant data modeling for devices setup and deployment process, signal management in the data driven engineering process framework.
6. Support the full development lifecycle: requirements engineering, concept creation, implementation, testing, and project delivery and act as a technical interface between R&D projects, customer project execution teams, and development teams.
What You Bring
7. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, ideally with domain knowledge of HVDC and FACTS station types
8. Proven years of experience in complex SCADA system development, involving but not limited to Copa Data Zenon, WinCC OA, SCIAM SCC (WinCC Classic), IPCOMM Protocol Converter or comparable.
9. Strong understanding of communication protocols: IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, OPC UA, DNP3 in focus with data modeling in database structure and solid knowledge of network communication (IPv4, TCP/UDP) protocols.
10. Experience in technical project management and cross-functional coordination, along with analytical mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
11. Ideally familiarity with version control (GIT) and CICD deployment tooling and experience with Linux and Windows OS (CLI and GUI).
12. Fluent in German and English.
