Amazon is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this team works to ensure that the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems (MEP) operate at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.

The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is Amazon’s front-line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation and responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure within the data center environment in a specific location. The role requires a highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to complex technical problems. This position requires frequent site interventions, critical switching activities, along with troubleshooting and fixing infrastructure issues. The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a ‘hands on’ capacity on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) infrastructure such as diesel generators, switchgear, UPS’s, PDU’s, Chillers, Pumps, AHU’s, fire detection systems and building automation systems.

Key job responsibilities
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
- Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
- Perform limited maintenance, repair and audits tasks
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
- Manipulate small wires and objects
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
- Collaborating effectively with internal & external stakeholders to deliver operational excellence
- Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Draft, update & maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation pertaining to DCEO
- Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies

Physical Requirements:
- Walk job sites in uneven terrain
- Work in extreme climates
- Work at heights and from ladders
- Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
- Push or pull heavy objects into position
- Work in noisy environments
- Work a shift rotation (24/7)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

. Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of critical infrastructure maintenance or operation experience on mechanical or electrical systems in a mission critical environment (i.e. Data Center, telecom, Oil and Gas Plant, etc.)
. Good English verbal and written communication skills
. Demonstrate key electrical and/or mechanical competencies (Practice & Theory) Basic knowledge of mechanical systems (Chiller, HVAC systems, Controls)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of Data Center Engineering Operation experience and on-call support for Data Center facilities /or Mission Critical Plants/ Production facilities.
- European driving license
- Willing to travel between Data center sites, and internationally if required
