For our Group Procurement team we are looking for a Group Procurement Road Transportation Manager (f/m/d). The Group Procurement Road Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the global road transport spend of Heidelberg Materials. While formulating strategic recommendations in the road transportation category, the focus is on the optimization of logistics cost across the organization. This role involves the active management of the category, leveraging data-driven insights to ensure cohesive alignment across countries, and supporting Category Logistic Cluster Leads in enhancing key logistics operations.
This position is located in Heidelberg and you will report to the Head of Group Procurement Logistics.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
1. Developing a procurement strategy for the category in alignment with organizational objectives and implementation with the countries
2. Actively managing the road transport procurement category by closely collaborating with country and region representatives to gain insights into local logistics procurement strategies and challenges
3. Conducting analyses of key performance indicators related to procurement of logistics services, utilizing data-driven insights to identify trends and proactively running should-cost models to identify savings opportunities
4. Systematically analyzing and comparing theutilization of third-party logistics providers versus in-house assets and resources
5. Leading negotiations with suppliers and supporting countries in identifying negotiation potential
6. Advocating for backhauling opportunities to maximize transport utilization, thereby reducing costs and improving sustainability
YOUR PROFILE
7. Professional experience: Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Procurement or logistics; strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation; stakeholder management and cross-functional team collaboration; spend data analyses, strategy development, sourcing initiatives; market research, and decision-making
8. Technical know-how: Deep understanding of road transportation logistics and its cost drivers, including regulations and industry standards; strong motivation to achieve the best cost solution within the given service parameters; negotiation skills and experience in negotiations with transporters; strong technical capabilities, especially in logistics and transportation services
9. Behavioral know-how: Strong verbal and written skills (min. English); hands-on mentality and commitment to deliver tangible results; proactive personality driving for continuous improvement;
accountability, resilience, autonomy, and leadership; behavior and conduct in line with HM Code of Conduct; high willingness to travel, with flexibility for national and international business trips
