AI & Data - Data Architecture – Senior Manager – Power & Utilities Sector
EY seeks a motivated professional with solid experience in the utilities sector to serve as a Senior Manager with a robust background in Data Architecture, Data Modernization, end‑to‑end Data capabilities, AI, Gen AI, and Agentic AI. A power systems or electrical engineering background is preferred, with a history of delivering business use cases in Transmission, Distribution, Generation, or Customer environments. The ideal candidate is experienced with consulting firms and comfortable in a fast‑paced consulting culture. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining large‑scale AI‑ready data architectures for the utilities sector.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Manager in Data Architecture, you will lead transformative technology projects that align with EY’s strategy. You’ll manage timelines, costs, and quality, and direct both technical and non‑technical teams to implement cutting‑edge solutions. You will engage clients face‑to‑face, build relationships, and coach others through Agile or Waterfall delivery methods. Key responsibilities include:
Effective management and delivery of processes, solutions, and projects with a focus on quality and risk management.
Driving continuous process improvement and identifying innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices.
Supervising professional staff to deliver complex technical initiatives and guide others in problem‑solving and solution interpretation.
Designing, architecting, presenting findings, and leading junior team members across a range of clients to sell and deliver technology consulting services.
Serving as the go‑to resource for client challenges, proposing data‑centric methodologies, and championing solutions that align with data architectures and technologies.
Winning new business for EY and positioning yourself as a trusted advisor with deep knowledge of digital transformation and analytics.
Communicating strategically with C‑level executives and challenging them constructively.
Skills & attributes for success
Technical skills: Applications integration, cloud computing architecture, data architecture design and modelling, data integration, data quality, AI‑driven data operations.
Experience delivering business use cases in Transmission, Distribution, Generation, or Customer environments.
Strong relationship management and business‑development capabilities.

Leadership of modern data architecture design and implementation for transactional, operational, analytical, and AI use cases.
Mentoring of global data architecture and engineering teams.
Establishment of data governance policies, including security, quality, and lifecycle management.
Staying current with industry trends and new technologies, recommending innovations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (required).
12+ years of professional consulting experience (industry or technology).
12+ years of hands‑on experience in architecting, designing, delivering, or optimizing data lake solutions.
5+ years of experience with native cloud products such as Azure or GCP.
8+ years mentoring and leading teams of data architects and engineers.
In‑depth knowledge of data architecture principles, modelling, warehousing, lakes, and integration.
Proven leadership of large data engineering teams building complex, multi‑feature platforms.
Experience designing end‑to‑end pipelines that store, process, and deliver data reliably.
Proficiency in data modelling techniques and selecting appropriate architectural patterns (Data Fabrics, Data Mesh, Lake Houses, Delta Lakes).
Managing complex data migration and integration projects with performance optimization.
Hands‑on coding in Python, Java, Scala, or similar.
Designing horizontally and vertically scalable data solutions.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and DevOps/DataOps practices.
Understanding of data encryption, access control, and security best practices.
Experience leading infrastructure and security engineering.
Strong leadership, communication, and project‑management skills.
Knowledge of data security, database, enterprise data, metadata, ontology, and systems design.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Master’s degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience at a Big 4 firm or major utility.
Experience with cloud data platforms such as Databricks.
Leadership and mentorship focus.

What we look for

Compensation & benefits
Competitive salary: $144,000 – $329,100 for all U.S. locations; $172,800 – $374,000 for NY, WA, and CA (excluding Sacramento). Total rewards include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.
Hybrid work model: 40‑60% on‑site for client roles.
Flexible vacation policy with additional paid holidays, breaks, and personal/family leave.
