Description and Requirements
Based in Berlin, Germany, the incumbent will be responsible for Lenovo’s interaction with government departments in Germany, primarily working to influence policies before they are adopted and maintaining Lenovo’s ability to operate free from unnecessary regulations. Reporting to the Director, Government Relations for EMEA, the role involves close interaction with business leaders, finance, and legal teams.
Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders at all levels.
* Evaluate the impact of government guidelines and advocate on Lenovo’s behalf.
* Engage with government to foster good relationships and promote Lenovo products.
* Communicate with government authorities on policy matters and stay updated on regulatory requirements.
* Identify emerging policy issues in Germany and the EU, and work with stakeholders to address them.
* Collaborate with business units to address issues related to manufacturing, marketing, regulatory, finance, taxation, and import/export.
* Influence policy and legislation affecting Lenovo’s business.
* Map stakeholders across government, NGOs, and international organizations for engagement strategies.
* Represent Lenovo in industry trade associations and monitor political and regulatory developments.
* Participate in trade associations and coordinate with legal teams on regulatory issues.
* Utilize knowledge of government policies on FDI and incentives for strategic planning.
* Assist in implementing government industry guidelines and processes.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
* 12+ years in public policy, government relations, advocacy, or international trade/diplomacy sectors.
* Deep understanding of the German technology market, especially in laptops, IT hardware, mobile phones, and cloud computing.
* Strong knowledge of the German political system, environment, institutions, and culture.
* Established network with policymakers, academia, and industry experts.
* Experience with German and EU government/policy schemes and diplomatic sectors.
