We are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join our Mission Operations team based at ESOC’s premises in Darmstadt, Germany.
In this role, you’ll support ESA’s Operations missions from the state-of-the-art European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt. About the client and location
The European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Darmstadt, Germany. As the main control centre for ESA, ESOC controls the launch and early orbit phases for their missions. They are also accepted globally for their research into ground system engineering, satellite navigation, space debris studies and more.
Tasks and activities
The Operations Engineering activities shall cover a number of system and sub-system engineering areas of expertise both at satellite and flight operations segment level:
* System Operations.
* Satellite Data Handling Operations.
* Satellite Payload Operations.
* Satellite AOCS Operations.
* Satellite Power-Thermal-RF Operations.
* Database Management.
* Ground segment subsystems and system validation, e.g. Mission Control System, Simulator, Mission Planning, GSTVi, NDIU, etc.
* Execution of flight operations, including spacecraft monitoring and commanding.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
* University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.
* Knowledge of Spacecraft Systems and subsystem operations with experience at ESOC or EUMETSAT.
* Proven expertise in satellite and FOS operations preparation tasks (e.g. FOP preparation and validation, SVT preparation and execution).
* Robust understanding of FOS main components, experience with system level tasks and system minded attitude.
* Proven experience with S2K based MCS.
* Experience with EGOS-CC based MCS and ancillary systems.
* Proven experience with ESOC external interfaces and Mission Planning tools and procedures.
* Proven experience with Operational Simulators.
* Proven expertise with modern avionics platforms and authentication.
* Proven experience with ODB management processes and tools, and robust background on computer technology.
* Software programming skills.
* Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
* Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
