HSE Lead (f/m/d) – Data Center Construction Site

Your Responsibilities
* Take full responsibility for all HSE-related functions on the project, including occupational safety and health management, hazardous substance handling, emergency planning, and environmental protection
* Lead the on-site HSE team, managing associated budgets while implementing key safety programs such as working at heights, electrical safety, and lock-out/tag-out procedures
* Lead the implementation of the HSE roadmap as defined by the client, ensuring alignment with legal, internal, and project-specific requirements
* Promote a proactive safety culture to ensure an accident-free work environment, particularly within a general contractor (GC) setup involving multiple trades
* Serve as a trusted advisor to operational project management teams on all HSE matters
* Ensure legal and regulatory compliance by applying and enforcing relevant HSE standards throughout all phases of the project
* Fulfil the responsibilities of an occupational safety specialist in accordance with § 6 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ASiG), including:
* Preparing and conducting risk assessments
* Leading or participating in occupational safety committee meetings
* Acting as liaison with authorities and project partners
* Utilize internal and external auditing tools to monitor performance and identify risks across the construction site
* Drive continuous improvement by identifying safety and environmental performance gaps and implementing corrective and preventive measures
* Develop and execute training and action plans to ensure lasting improvements in HSE standards
* Implement and enhance the safety management system in line with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001)
Your Profile
* Degree in occupational safety, civil/environmental engineering, or a comparable technical qualification (e.g. certified master craftsman or technician)
* Certification as an occupational safety specialist or safety engineer in accordance with § 7 ASiG
* Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in construction, ideally with exposure to Data Center projects and international clients
* Demonstrated leadership experience in HSE roles is highly desirable
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams and contractors in high-risk environments
* Proficient in standard IT applications (e.g. MS Office, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, SAP)
* Fluency in both German and English, written and spoken
* Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany, particularly to Berlin and Frankfurt regions
