PurposeThe Director Medical Affairs Strategic Markets EMEA – Electrophysiology will oversee the Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) team supporting the G5 markets (Germany, France, UK, Italy, and Spain), develop and execute the vision, mission and goals for the Strategic Markets in EMEA, shape medical direction for Electrophysiology, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as an MSL for the home country.ResponsibilitiesOrganizational LeadershipOversee MSL work in G5 markets for Electrophysiology.Provide deep procedural insights, gather and translate unmet surgical needs to inform innovation agenda.Ensure seamless knowledge transfer from global medical to the G5 markets.Provide medical input into Target Product Profile, risk management, and safety oversight across end‑to‑end processes.Lead medical input into critical business decisions regarding potential patient safety issues.Analyze and interpret signals and trends from multiple inputs.Provide strategic direction to medical affairs department members.Manage operational aspects of MSL teams (budget, performance, compliance) and implement workforce and succession plans.Conduct career development conversations and coaching.Provide leadership and direction to MSLs and serve as liaison for team collaborations and stakeholder engagement.External EngagementsBuild strong relationships with top academic clinical physician leaders in Electrophysiology and related fields.Develop and sustain relationships with KOLs, ad boards, physicians, academic institutions, FDA, EMA.Collaborate with EPs and KOLs to identify unmet needs and define solutions for strategic partnerships.Articulate value proposition of innovation externally and defend in competitive environment.Provide appropriate messaging to KOLs and strategic ad boards regarding the future of EP.Continuously improve customer experience and implement loyalty initiatives.Cross‑Function Leadership & CollaborationsBuild strong internal relationships and enhance cross‑department collaboration.Provide counsel on large/complex product research projects for health authority submissions.Define and oversee evidence required for market approval of new electrophysiology solutions.Work closely with MSLs to develop and implement clinical evidence strategy.Serve as voice of customer across business topics to ensure customer‑centric mindset.Provide clinical perspective to Commercial, Marketing, Evidence Generation, Education, R&D, Regulatory, Clinical, Pre‑clinical, Health Economics & Market Access teams.Lead medical input into critical decisions on patient safety.Lead technology assessment in partnership with new business development.Support medical education team and innovate training programs.Lead creation of Life Cycle Medical affairs activities.Inform partners on industry standards to alleviate economic challenges.Qualifications & RequirementsMedical degree (MD) or advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD) – highly preferred.12+ years’ experience in medical affairs / medical liaison or related roles in medical device / pharma industry, with progressive leadership experience.Class III Medical Device experience required.Extensive clinical practice experience in Electrophysiology or AFib / Persistent AFib.Demonstrated expertise and publications in Electrophysiology.In‑depth knowledge of clinical trial design, regulatory requirements, and healthcare compliance.Strong understanding of medical device development processes and lifecycle management.Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex concepts.High ethical standards and commitment to patient safety and quality.Experience in customer relationship management with VOC focus.Knowledge of Cardiovascular market environment and digital/MedTech ecosystem.Strong external reputation and ability to build relationships with EMA and other regulators.Leadership in a matrix organization and ability to influence without direct authority.High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.Required & Preferred SkillsRequired: Analytical Reasoning, Business Requirements Analysis, Clinical Research and Regulations, Clinical Trials Operations, Communication, Developing Others, Digital Culture, Digital Literacy, Healthcare Trends, Inclusive Leadership, Leadership, Medical Affairs, Medical Communications, Medical Compliance, Product Strategies, Stakeholder Analysis, Strategic Thinking, Workflow Analysis.Preferred: (additional skills as identified).CompensationThe anticipated pay range in the primary posting location is €119,200.00 – €205,620.00. Additional location ranges: France €110,640 – €182,160; Italy €108,000 – €186,300.BenefitsIn addition to base pay, benefits include an annual bonus, vacation days, parental leave (12 weeks minimum), bereavement, caregiver and volunteer leave, well‑being reimbursement, financial, physical, mental health programs, service anniversary awards, and insurance plans.
