The International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Genome Science and the Research Training Group GönomiX are jointly seeking highly motivated PhD candidates. These programs, a collaboration between the University of Göttingen, University Medical Center, and the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Science, offer interdisciplinary research opportunities at the forefront of genome science. The position is limited to three years with a possibility of extension. The International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Genome Science & the Research Training Group GönomiX are looking for PhD Students (f/m/x) IMPRS-GS: Projects span experimental (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.) and theoretical (bioinformatics, computational biology, etc.) disciplines. GönomiX: Focuses on the evolution of gene regulatory networks and Wnt pathway functions in emerging model organisms (e. g. insects, annelids, snails, flatworms, cnidarians), utilizing ‘omics technologies and bioinformatics. Students will either pioneer novel bioinformatics tools or they will push the current limits of our model systems by developing novel tools to study gene function. The initial group of 10 PhD students will join our structured training program and participate in regular scientific exchange e. g. in retreats, colloquia and in tailored workshops. Candidates should hold an outstanding Master’s (or equivalent) degree in experimental life sciences, computational/mathematical/biophysical sciences, or a related field. We seek individuals with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research, demonstrated academic excellence, creativity, motivation, teamwork skills, and proficiency in English. The Max Planck Society, the University of Göttingen and the University Medical Center are committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in their workforce and therefore encourage applications from such qualified individuals.
