Serving as the advanced?level computer network architect for a high?visibility DoD communications program, reporting to the program’s technical leadDesigning, modeling, and implementing complex LAN, WAN, intranet, extranet, and cloud?based network solutions supporting mission?critical systemsPerforming detailed network?capacity and performance analyses, developing long?term network?architecture roadmaps, and integrate security controls into every layer of the designResearching emerging networking technologies, recommending hardware and software platforms, and ensuring all designs comply with DoD cyber?policy (RMF, NIST?800?53, CNSSI?1253, etc.)Cooperating with government program officials, vendors, and cross?functional engineering teams to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructureFILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDINGLI-TF1Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, network engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an ABET?accredited or CAE?designated institutionAlternative qualification: Completion of any of the listed DoD/Military training modules (e.g.,?4C?FA26A,?M09CHN1,?A?531?0009,?A?531?0045,?or the combination?ACQ?160??ISA?220) may be used in place of the degreeActive DoD top?secret (or higher) clearance at the time of appointmentAt least one DoD?approved baseline certification, such as:CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)GICSP (GIAC Information Security Certification – Practitioner)GCIA (GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst)CISSP, CISM, CISA, or any equivalent credential recognized by the DoD Cyber Workforce FrameworkMinimum three?productive years of full?time experience performing the duties of a Computer Network Architect (Advanced) or equivalent on?the?job training that satisfies the DoD CSWF Advanced criteria, experience must include:Designing, modeling, and implementing large?scale DoD or federal network infrastructures (LAN/WAN, SD?WAN, cloud?connected networks)Conducting network capacity, performance, and security analysesIntegrating security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, segmentation) into network designsDemonstrated ability to:Create end?to?end network architectures that meet mission requirements and DoD policyPerform network modeling, traffic analysis, and capacity planningEvaluate, select, and recommend hardware/software platformsIncorporate cyber?risk mitigation measures into network designsCommunicate technical concepts and design rationale to both technical and non?technical stakeholdersIn?depth knowledge of DoD networking and cyber?policy frameworks (RMF, NIST?800?53, CNSSI?1253)Hands?on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or equivalent enterprise routing/switching platforms; familiarity with SD?WAN, MPLS, and VPN technologiesProficiency in network?modeling and simulation tools (e.g.,?Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3, NetSim, OPNET, Riverbed)Experience designing secure network segments, micro?segmentation, and zero?trust architecturesStrong understanding of IPv4/IPv6, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), QoS, multicast, and network?automation frameworks (Ansible, Python, NetConf/YANG)Experience with cloud networking (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Google Cloud) and hybrid connectivity solutionsAbility to produce architecture documentation, network diagrams, and RMF artifacts (SSP, POA&M) that meet DoD standardsProven record of evaluating emerging technologies (SD?WAN, 5G, NFV, SASE) and recommending adoption pathsExcellent stakeholder?management and presentation skills; capable of leading technical reviews and briefings for senior government officialsExperience mentoring junior network engineers and promoting best practices in network security and reliabilityPreferred additional certifications: CCIE, GSEC, CISSP?ISSAP, or DoD?specific 8570.01?M IA/IA?C/IA?E credentialsAbility to obtain and maintain higher?level clearance (Top?Secret/SCI) if future mission phases require itSRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TOP SECRET LEVEL WITH TOP SECRET / SCI LEVEL ELIGIBILITYDomestic travel: Up to?10?% of the year (approximately two weeks) for site visits, security assessments, or briefings at other DoD locationsInternational travel: Infrequent, typically less than?5?% of the year, only when needed for coordination with overseas partners and subject to clearance approvalScientific Research Corporation is an advanced information technology and engineering company that provides innovative products and services to government and private industry, as well as independent institutions.
