Fromstart-up to scale-up: we'retacklingittogether
CMBlu Energy is developing from a start-up focussing on research into a manufacturing scale-up that is on its way to series production. Around 240 employees are working towards this goal at CMBlu Energy. Our head office is in Alzenau near Frankfurt, with a branch office in Obernburg. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Materials & Membrane Developer (m/f/d) to drive the optimization, sourcing, and integration of ion exchange membranes in the organic flow battery systems. This role combines hands-on laboratory work, supplier management, and cross-team collaboration to ensure material performance, quality, and scalability.
Your Tasks:
* Optimization and further development of ion exchange membranes that meet product specifications
* Collaborate with the stack, electrode, and production team to ensure integrated development
* Developing methods to ensure membrane quality and longevity
* Monitoring membrane performance and analyzing deviations from specified performance values
* Interface with laboratory operations to ensure schedules and quality standards
* Managing and communicating the improvement processes of cooperation partners and suppliers
* Coordinate and manage projects related to membrane development
* Ensure projects meet cost and time targets
* Documentation of all development processes, optimization efforts and project results
Your profile:
* Master's degree or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or related education
* At least 3 years of professional experience in relevant fields, such as batteries, ion exchange membranes or plastics
* Experience in batteries, especially flow batteries, or plastics/polymers
* Sound knowledge of electrochemistry or materials science
* Understanding of membrane materials and design principles
* Ability to work effectively in a team
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Excellent project management skills to coordinate and meet project deadlines
* Proficiency in documenting and reporting technical processes and results
* Detail orientation with a focus on quality assurance
* Excellent written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage
