Ready to make an impact at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, and product safety? Join Dow’s EMEAI Industrial, Intermediate & Infrastructure (II&I) Propylene Oxide/Propyleneglycol (PO/PG) business as our next Product Stewardship Manager.
Location options: Terneuzen (Netherlands), Stade (Germany), Wiesbaden (Germany), Milan (Italy), Istanbul (Turkey).
In this pivotal role, you will partner closely with our Polyurethane (PU), PO/PG and Chloro Alkali Vinyl (CAV) teams to simplify complex regulations and translate them into smart, forward‑looking stewardship strategies. You will collaborate across regions and functions, provide clear regulatory guidance, and enable our teams and customers to manage our products with confidence and care, which is helping to secure compliance today and enabling growth tomorrow.
Responsibilities
1. Review, assess and identify impact of regulatory changes; Ensures chemical regulations are met for each product (including but not limited to REACH, REACH like regulations, Food, Feed, Pharma and global chemicals conventions).
2. Holds the level of expertise in product stewardship which is leverageable beyond the region/work group the individual directly supports. Effectively influences customers and clients to partner on EH&S projects (direct interaction).
3. Effectively participates in visits/audits from customers, external agencies and certification bodies related to product compliance. Responsible for Distributor assessment
4. Strong partnership with quality team with special reference to USP/EP grades, including participation in Product and Process Design and Improvement projects that require Product Stewardship expertise
5. Design and deliver training on product stewardship, safe handling, and regulatory matters to key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. customers, customer-facing business contacts, regional leadership team).
6. Define supported end-use applications based upon the existing risk assessment data or potential liability, and coordinate new risk assessments and exposure assessments coordinating with value chain as necessary taking into account assessment and management of product misuses.
7. Initiate and conduct high risk, complicated, cross-business, and/or recurrent Business Risk Reviews (BRRs) and maintain updated Risk Based Product Characterization
8. Identify and interpret public priority issues impacting product and lead the development and implementation of an effective issue management strategy that includes engaging Government Affairs/Public Policy leaders as needed for guidance and direction.
9. Support Product Safety Operation team training them for the execution of key work processes (PMR, MSDS review, respond to customer inquiries )
10. Together with Tech Center and Supply Chain, lead the qualification process of new Propylene Oxide customers.
Qualifications
11. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred disciplines: Chemistry, Engineering, Toxicology, Biology, Life Science, or a specialized EH&S discipline / product quality.
12. 5+ years of experience in the chemical industry.
13. Experience leading/participating in industry association regulatory panels/task forces on emerging regulations/initiatives (strongly preferred).
14. Strong product/regulatory/market knowledge (preferred).
15. Willingness to travel for business team meetings and trade/industry association meetings.
16. Professional proficiency in English; additional European languages (e.g., Dutch, German, Italian, Turkish) are a plus based on location

19. Cross‑functional collaboration – Brings together business, quality, supply chain, tech centers and customer‑facing teams to solve complex challenges and accelerate compliant growth.
20. Stakeholder training & enablement – Designs and delivers engaging training on stewardship, safe handling and regulatory topics for internal teams and customers that changes behavior, not just awareness.
21. Quality & compliance partnership – Works closely with quality teams (including USP/EP grades) and approves product literature for accurate EH&S content.
22. Customer & value chain engagement – Defines supported end‑uses, coordinates exposure assessments, qualifies new Propylene Oxide customers and partners with distributors to uphold standards.
23. Clear, influential communication – Translates complex regulatory insights into practical guidance; builds trust with auditors, certification bodies and customers.
