At Vapotherm, patients and the clinicians that treat them are our total focus. The Area Clinical Sales Manager (ACSM) is primarily responsible for leading the equipment validation process for prospective customers and supporting the expansion of Vapotherm technology use across various care areas in existing customer facilities through education and training.
The ACSM will lead validation processes within prospective accounts in acute care hospitals (NICU, PICU, AICU, ED) and post-acute care hospitals where Vapotherm may be utilized. The role also involves clinical promotion and education on Vapotherm products, supporting the development of the sales funnel and revenue in the assigned territory. The ACSM supports expansion in existing accounts and provides education on the correct application of Vapotherm products through clinical education, training, and expertise while maximizing sales and use across care areas. The position involves working with healthcare providers in acute and post-acute care settings.
This is a field-based role focused on maximizing product adoption, building sustainable relationships with customers, and ensuring superior customer education and support. The ACSM reports to the Country Manager within the Commercial organization and works closely with sales, clinical, marketing, and other cross-functional teams to deliver on-label education. It is an entry-level hybrid position combining clinical and sales responsibilities, requiring the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet business goals.
Primary Responsibilities :
1. Promote Vapotherm’s technologies to increase awareness and demand among existing and potential customers.
2. Lead clinical education efforts to accelerate sales, increase effectiveness, and optimize utilization of therapy at existing accounts.
3. Develop relationships with key decision-makers in each account.
4. Achieve assigned growth targets.
5. Develop quarterly sales plans based on customer needs.
6. Complete documentation related to the validation process.
7. Provide clinical and product training, including formal in-service support.
8. Handle validation, training, sales processes, technical service, maintenance support, and device installation.
9. Implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability per account.
10. Support customers with equipment operation, troubleshooting, patient selection, and clinical best practices.
11. Maintain relationships with key customers, opinion leaders, and partners for technical and professional support.
12. Create and execute plans to expand business within the territory.
13. Stay informed on market trends, competitors, and clinical literature; report activities and customer insights in CRM.
14. Provide feedback for product improvement and share best practices.
15. Participate in clinical and business education, including conferences and symposiums.
16. Attend medical meetings as needed.
Position Requirements :
1. Preferably with clinical background or three+ years in clinical education or sales in respiratory or critical care.
2. Hospital environment experience is preferred but not essential.
3. Current knowledge of respiratory therapies.
4. Proven success influencing clinical use of new technologies in hospitals.
5. Strong communication and relationship management skills.
6. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 50-65% within Germany.
7. Computer skills including MS Office and online applications.
8. Intermediate English fluency (B1/B2).
9. Ability to work from a home-office with significant travel.
Additional attributes include a passion for healthcare, interest in medical technology, high sales aptitude, teamwork, time management, cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and trust-building skills. The role requires physical ability to sit, stand, travel, operate a vehicle, and occasionally lift up to 11 kilos. Full-time position with 70% fieldwork and nationwide travel, supporting customer activities including product demos and validations.
