Description Position Summary As a key member of the Continent Finance Team, the General Ledger Accountant supports accounting and finance operations across EMEA administrative offices, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies. This role is responsible for detailed financial reporting and analysis, supporting local statutory requirements, and assisting with general administrative needs for EMEA entities. The position contributes to strategic finance initiatives, enhances internal controls, and supports the delivery of high-quality services to division leaders, department heads, office associates, and MI Corporate. Scope Location: Germany Language Requirements: Fluent in English (spoken and written); German language skills are a plus Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations Perform daily accounting tasks including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, reclasses, and corrections Support period-end close activities and maintain fixed asset registers Manage accounts payable and receivable processes Conduct VAT reconciliations and financial analysis Financial Reporting & Compliance Assist in preparing internal and external financial reports in accordance with US GAAP and local standards Ensure compliance with company policies and local accounting regulations Support internal and external audits, including documentation for the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) process Process Improvement & Projects Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by Finance Leadership Candidate Profile Education & Experience College or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Qualified Accountant (Germany) preferred Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, including US GAAP exposure Experience with PeopleSoft (Oracle) preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Office tools Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Effective communication and interpersonal skills Professional demeanor with a proactive and flexible approach Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Strong command of English (verbal and written) Management Competencies Leadership: Demonstrates reliability, discretion, and a service-oriented mindset Managing Execution: Meets deadlines, adapts to changing priorities, and delivers results Building Relationships: Maintains constructive rapport with associates and stakeholders Learning & Expertise: Applies accounting knowledge and systems proficiency to drive solutions Why Join Marriott International?
