The position is located in the Immune and Cell Biology Department, within the Discovery unit of the pRED’s Large Molecules Research, where the discovery of next generation biotherapeutics is the primary focus. We closely collaborate with technical and biological functions to convert molecule sequences into innovative therapeutics. In this environment, we are looking for a dedicated Research Associate (m/f/d) to join our team of cell biologists. In this role, you will play a key part in the in vitro selection and characterization of therapeutic molecules. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and executing 2D and 3D in vitro assays using advanced cellular models like primary cells, iPSC-derived cells, organ-on-a-chip, and organoids. You will utilize a wide range of readout technologies and work closely with automation and data analysis experts. Your impact * Designing and executing cellular assays by applying your scientific knowledge in cell biology, particularly in immunology and/or neurobiology * Increasing robustness and reproducibility of physiologically relevant cellular assays to screen therapeutic molecules * Employing cutting-edge readout technologies to provide rich and high quality data sets for lead selection * Collaborating in cross-functional teams to enhance technological platforms, methodologies and assays Your profile * You have a strong background in cell biology, particularly in immunology and/or neurobiology * Furthermore, you have extensive hands-on experience working with disease-relevant cellular models, including iPSC-derived cells and organoids. This includes using readout technologies like multiparameter FACS analysis, imaging (confocal, high content, high throughput), and RNA-Seq. * You're skilled at analyzing large datasets with state-of-the-art software for image and FACS analysis and can write small scripts or macros to support this work * A Master's degree (FH) in biology, neurobiology, biotechnology, or a related field is required, along with a passion for applying your skills to drug discovery * Experience with automated workflows for these techniques is a plus, while industrial experience is helpful, it's not a requirement * You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner with strong oral and written communication skills in English This position is temporary for two years.
