Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
1. Overall responsibility for the General Ledger for 2 entities within the perimeter, including accurate and timely month-end closing
2. Oversight of activities of one direct report located in Austria as well as activities performed by Global Business Services centres for the perimeter
3. Liaising with external consultants to ensure timely completion of all pensions, tax and other statutory monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
4. Review and / or completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and VAT reporting
5. Review and / or preparation of SOX controls for various cycles under ST internal SOX control framework
6. Supporting the production of annual legal entity statutory accounts and acting as the main point of contact for internal and external audit visits
7. Supporting the preparation of direct and indirect tax returns and acting as the main point of contact for external consultant
8. Support the HQ (Geneva, Switzerland) in relation to their operations in Germany (Distribution centre for Europe located in Frankfurt), including German tax authorities assessments
9. Preparation of quarterly and annual tax packages as well as tax returns and related disclosures.
10. Lease and Share Option accounting and associated reporting to corporate finance
11. Involvement in project work, e.g., SAP enhancements; Integration of new acquisitions; and support in accounting developments
Profile
The role requires:
12. Qualified charted accountant (Wirtschaftsprüfer / ACA / CPA / ACCA)
13. German (fluent) and English (fluent) speaker (other European languages would be advantageous but not essential)
14. Ability to manage multiple work streams and determine work priorities to ensure deadlines are met
15. Ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts based abroad (including direct report based in Austria and direct manager based in England)
16. Good knowledge of direct and indirect taxes
17. Competence in the use of ERP systems (SAP experience is a plus)
18. Previous experience in production of statutory accounts and supporting and / or conducting external audits
19. Experience working for an accountancy firm a plus
20. Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
You will live within commuting distance of ST's Munich (Aschheim) office (Alternative location Marlow, England) and be able to travel within Germany (mostly Frankfurt) as well as abroad (mostly Switzerland, Austria and England).
