The following professorship is to be filled in the Department of Environmental Planning/Environmental Engineering at the Environmental Campus in Birkenfeld from the summer semester 2026:
W2 Professorship ‘Psychology and Project Management’
Tasks
The main focus of the professorship is the competent and responsible co-design of the curriculum in the field of psychology and project management in the bachelor's and master's degree programmes. The focus is particularly on the degree programmes ‘Communication Psychology and Sustainability (B.Sc.)’, ‘Industrial Engineering/Environmental Planning (B.Sc.)’ and ‘Project Management: Communication, Psychology and Sustainability (M.Sc.)’. The topic of sustainability is an important focus in teaching and research at the Environmental Campus and in the professorship advertised here.
Courses are to be offered in German and, if required, also in English.
The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University of Applied Sciences are in favour of a supervision concept in which a high level of teacher presence at the university location is expected.

For this professorship, we are looking for a committed individual who, after completing a university degree in psychology, has gained experience inproject management in a responsible position in practice/industry – outside the clinical field – and now wishes to pass on their knowledge, particularly in the areas of psychology and project management, to our students in their teaching.
In addition to professional expertise, we expect a high level of social and communication skills, which are also reflected in empathy and appreciative communication with students and staff. Very good German language skills (at least C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) are required.
You have a high level of intrinsic motivation and team spirit. A collegial working style is very important to us.
You are willing to actively participate in the further development and external presentation of our degree programmes.
You are passionate about teaching in the auditorium and eager to use interactive methods. You can select knowledge in a targeted manner and convey it to the target group in a comprehensible and interesting way. You combine professional competence with authentic enthusiasm for the content. You create a motivating learning atmosphere that encourages independent thinking and promotes the learning success of the students.
In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the minimum recruitment requirements are:
1. a successfully completed university degree in the field of psychology
2. pädagogische Eignung, die in der Regel durch Erfahrungen in der Lehre, Ausbildung oder entsprechende hochschuldidaktische Weiterbildung nachgewiesen wird,
3. special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate, and
4. in addition, special achievements in the application or
development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.
The appointment is made as a civil servant for life if the relevant legal requirements are met.
