We’re partnering with a fast-growing European investment platform based in Berlin. This is a rare opportunity to join a business sitting at the intersection of finance, technology, and asset management, working closely with investment teams, operations, and senior leadership as the firm continues its international expansion.
Role
As a Senior Controller, you will take ownership of all accounting operations, driving the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will manage daily accounting activities, oversee financial statements (including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow), and support ongoing improvements for greater efficiency.
You will:
1. Lead and manage core accounting processes to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
2. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements following accounting standards.
3. Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring smooth daily operations.
4. Identify and champion opportunities to streamline and automate processes.
5. Manage audit preparation and collaboration with both internal teams and external auditors.
6. Monitor and ensure compliance with evolving accounting regulations (HGB, IFRS).
7. Support budgeting, forecasting, and provide actionable insights through financial analysis.
8. Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and accountability.
Key Skills
1. 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, including leadership responsibilities
2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3. Professional fluency in both German and English (written and verbal)
4. Proficiency in DATEV; experience with Xero and advanced Excel skills
5. Deep knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
6. Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
7. Experience in Private Equity environments (desirable)
8. Audit/Accountant qualifications (desirable)
9. Experience with Pigment and AI-driven tools (desirable)
