The Accountant will play a key role in managing financial operations for certain Cogent’s entities, including Germany. This role involves day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, accounts payable management, VAT compliance, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting with monthly and annual closings. The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years background in accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Accountant will support the General Ledger and Accounts Payable team.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Bank Posting & Reconciliation:
2. Post daily bank transactions and perform timely reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
3. Accounts Payable:
4. Review, code, and post A/P invoices accurately and in line with company guidelines.
5. Customer Account Clearing & Billing Reconciliation:
6. Clear customer accounts and handle reconciliation requests related to billing discrepancies.
7. Prepayment Management:
8. Prepare and post prepayments in coordination with operational teams.
9. VAT Reporting:
10. Compile and submit VAT reports in compliance with local regulations and deadlines.
11. Statutory Accounting Packages:
12. Prepare and send monthly data packages to local statutory accounting services, ensuring compliance and timeliness.
13. Administrative & Operational Support:
14. Support finance-related administrative tasks as needed
Minimum Job Requirements:
15. Vocational training or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
16. Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in multinational company
17. Basic knowledge of VAT law (UST-Recht).
18. Understanding of German Commercial Code (HGB); knowledge of US-GAAP is an advantage.
19. Expert knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
20. Fluency in German and English, other European language “a plus”
21. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
22. Demonstrate initiative. Be service minded.
23. Have experience with E.R.P (Navision preferably)
