We are seeking a motivated student with a strong blend of business acumen and engineering understanding to support Portfolio Management for the Service, Automation & Digital – Metallurgy department within SMS Group. The successful candidate will be comfortable translating technical concepts into commercial opportunities, producing data-driven insights, and working in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams to validate and develop growth ideas and service approaches. Your main tasks are:
1. Support portfolio management activities for the Service, Automation & Digital – Metallurgy department.
2. Derive operational templates and tools to streamline R&D and product/portfolio management workflows.
3. Support business modelling, product and portfolio analyses.
4. Generate data- and research-driven insights to inform decision-making.
5. Cooperate effectively in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams.
6. Identify and validate potential growth ideas and service approaches.
YOU KNOW
You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree at a German University (Engineering and/or Business Administration). Beyond that you bring the following knowledge:
7. Strong business understanding combined with technical/engineering interest or background.
8. Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
9. Strong analytical thinking and experience working with assumptions and model-driven analysis.
10. Excellent communication skills and ability to present concise and clear findings.
11. High attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
12. Experience in collaborative, multicultural teams is an advantage.
13. Fluent in English (verbal and written), favorably also in German.
