Who You Are
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Verve Marketplace Data Science team. You will work across data science, backend engineering, and MLOps, deploying models, optimizing real-time performance, and managing large-scale data pipelines. This hands-on role covers the full lifecycle, from design and deployment to monitoring and optimization, with a direct impact on revenue and product performance.
What You Will Do
1. Design, implement, and maintain high-performance backend systems for AI-powered products
2. Deploy, integrate, and optimize machine learning models into production by building gRPC/RESTful APIs and microservices for consuming model predictions
3. Automate model training and deployment with Kubernetes, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline the path from development to production
4. Build and optimize systems to ensure minimal delay between input and output, often measured in milliseconds
5. Design distributed systems to handle large AI workloads and high-throughput inference, balancing latency and throughput as traffic grows
6. Develop pipelines and templates for model training, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
7. Continuously monitor deployed models to ensure they remain safe, secure, and performant in live environments
8. Manage and serve features through centralized repositories for consistent use in both training and production
9. Ensure real-time availability of features for low-latency predictions
10. Guide and mentor engineers to strengthen backend development and machine learning expertise
11. Act as an MLOps specialist, collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to provide actionable recommendations
What You Will Bring
A strong foundation in software engineering, combined with specialized knowledge in machine learning systems, is essential.
12. 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on building and deploying ML systems in production
13. High proficiency in Python; experience with compiled languages (Go, Java, Rust, or C++) for high-performance, low-latency backend services
14. Hands-on experience with ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn
15. Proven ability to build, deploy, and maintain scalable backend systems, including RESTful APIs and microservices (FastAPI, Flask, gRPC)
16. Expertise in MLOps, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
17. Experience with model serving platforms (NVIDIA Triton, TensorFlow Serving, Seldon Core) and optimization techniques such as quantization and pruning
18. Practical experience with feature stores, open-source (e.g., Feast) or commercial (e.g., Tecton, SageMaker), for training and real-time inference
19. Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and related AI/ML services (Amazon SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, Azure Machine Learning)
20. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
