United Offshore Support GmbH is a leading global player in the offshore Oil & Gas industry, operating a fleet of Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels worldwide.



We are actively looking for a Marine Superintendent to join our Team!

This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of remote and in-office work, based out of one of our office locations in either Leer, Germany or Aberdeen, UK.



The Marine Superintendent main purpose is to provide specialized operational knowledge, support and advice to the vessels and UOS onshore teams regarding all matters pertaining to safety, health, environmental and maritime regulatory and operational issues, ensuring that the vessels remain safe and compliant at all times and during all activities. Act as the Deputy Designated Person Ashore & Deputy Company Security Officer

Responsibilities

* Ensure marine risks are clearly captured and identified in project and client planning.
* Provide robust support and guidance to the chartering team in respect of new business and tender opportunities.
* Ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented in a timely manner.
* Assist in driving operational efficiencies and continuous improvements across the fleet.
* Demonstrate a sound knowledge of, and adherence to, the Business Management System (BMS) framework and governance.
* Ensure the onboard management team are adequately supported in respect of all marine operational matters.
* Promote and encourage positive workforce engagement and QHSE culture. Demonstrate behaviors and attitude which align to and support UOS core values.
* Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the safety management system.
* Promote and maintain safe and effective working procedures and practices compliant with legislation and Company policy.
* Ensure that the vessels maintain Flag State and Class certification requirements.
* Control and monitor the risks associated with the vessels, through proactive management and continuous improvements to procedures and the onboard environment.
* Assist in developing, promoting and maintaining an effective safety culture onboard the vessels.
* Ensure an up to date knowledge and understanding of all requirements of legislative, marine and IMCA standards and guidelines.
* Conduct regular vessel inspections and internal audits to confirm compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line, STCW, ILO Conventions and applicable industry codes. Ensure that any gaps are identified and close out plans put in place and followed through.
* Work with the vessels, the QHSE department and any subcontractors as applicable, to ensure that all accidents / incidents are thoroughly investigated and monitor corrective and / or preventative actions, to ensure that they are closed out in a timely manner.
* Member of the Emergency Response Team and where applicable prepare and conduct emergency response exercises.
* Review Charterers’ and UOS project procedures for compliance with required safety, operational, stability and technical standards.
* Act as a client interface for all marine and nautical matters, assisting Chartering as necessary with tender reviews, feasibility studies and client deliverables.
* Actively participate in Client project meetings and risk assessments to ensure that the marine risks, issues and concerns are fully understood, communicated and workable solutions are achieved.
* Manage the vessel assurance requirements and submission of marine project documentation and certification for new tenders.
* Focal point for 3rd party audits, CMID’s/OVID’s, client inspections. Arranging of audit and ensuring that any findings identified through the audits are tracked and closed out in a timely manner.
* Assist with interviewing and briefing senior officers on marine and safety issues prior to them joining the vessel.

Qualifications

* Minimum Class II (Deck) Marine Certificate of Competency
* DP certificate and previous experience serving onboard DP vessels.
* Previous ISM auditing experience.
* Good working knowledge of maritime legislation, codes and standards.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Ability to work using own initiative or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to effectively manage own workload and work within given timescales (both internal and external), ensuring project requirements are met
* Adaptability and problem-solving capability
* Fluency in English is required. German is a great plus
