The rapid expansion of renewable energy is increasing volatility across energy generation and placing new demands on grid infrastructure. Our client is a fast-growing investment and development platform focused exclusively on utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), working to deliver flexibility to the energy system and accelerate the energy transition. To support this growth, they are seeking an experienced Head of Grid & EPC to take ownership of grid connection planning, EPC oversight, and the technical delivery of high‑voltage and medium‑voltage storage projects. Responsibilities Lead the grid connection planning for utility‑scale BESS projects at MV and HV level (single line diagrams, component selection, operational concepts, layouts, tender evaluations). Take responsibility for EPC / General Contractor management, ensuring construction progress, quality control, and technical compliance including FAT and SAT processes. Coordinate directly with TSOs, DSOs, and grid operators, managing commissioning activities and final plant certification. Line manage and develop a small team of junior engineers within the grid and EPC function. Collaborate closely with internal commercial, land acquisition, and development teams to ensure project delivery alignment. Requirements Academic background in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Strong knowledge of VDE AR‑N 4110 and 4120, as well as German grid compliance requirements. Proven experience delivering or planning large energy or infrastructure projects, ideally within distribution grids >10MW (solar, storage, wind, substations, or grid infrastructure). Fluent German and English (spoken and written).
