WDI Germany provides technical, architectural, and design services for new-build cruise ships, specializing in managing and overseeing the design, construction, and outfitting processes in Germany and other parts of the world.
This role represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to Disney's legacy of delivering world-class maritime experiences, combining cutting-edge technology with the magic of Disney storytelling.
This position is on-site in Papenburg, Germany and will report to the Marine & Technical Executive.
What You Will Do:
1. Oversees the technical design, construction, commissioning and delivery of the BN125 Hero.
2. Work in close cooperation with the shipyard technical team to meet the agreed milestones as far as the technical machinery and equipment. Ensures that systems are installed and function as per the ship’s specification.
3. Ensures the shipyard operations meet technical, operational and safety standards and applicable international, flag-state, port-state and classification-society requirements.
4. Ensures the assessment of the shipyard drawings are completed in good time and valid comments passed to the shipyard teams using the shipyard’s drawing approval system.
5. Administers the technical Agreement of Supplier, Agreement of Modification and Notice of Supply processes.
6. Familiarizes themselves with the latest technologies associated with the machinery and equipment components identified within the ship’s Specification and Contract.
7. Works with the Class Society and the shipyard to ensure that all present and foreseen regulatory legislation has been adhered to within the build process.
8. Ensures project compliance with Disney’s high standards and contractual specifications.
9. Ensures that machinery and equipment Factory Acceptance Tests are attended by representatives of the Technical Site Team.
10. Supervises the Technical Site Team members. This includes Lead Technical Inspector, Technical Inspectors, HVAC Superintendent and HVAC inspectors.
11. Liaises with external consultants involved with the ship designing and construction process.
12. Manages business relationships with key vendors.
13. Provides regular updates to the Technical Operation Team and seek for their inputs on key decisions.
14. Develops and implements safety-management and maintenance guidelines, policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
15. Minimum 10 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship operations, or technical project management, preferably in the cruise or passenger ship segment.
16. Broad understanding of shipbuilding, naval architecture, and ship design.
17. Knowledge in latest new buildings, including specification items and latest environmental technologies.
18. Solid understanding of shipboard systems, including propulsion, HVAC, electrical distribution, and automation.
19. Familiarity with class rules, flag state requirements, and IMO regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and upcoming environmental compliance (EEXI, CII, .
20. Experience in plan approval, system integration, and construction supervision.
21. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models
22. Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural environment with shipyard and contractor personnel.
23. Capable of supporting FATs, HATs, and SATs, including documentation review and punch list management.
24. High level of organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities under time pressure.
25. Proficient in MS Office and project tracking tools
26. Willingness to be based at or travel regularly to the shipyard and vendor sites during key construction and commissioning phases.
