PhD positions (m/w/d)
In the framework of the "Protemic" EU MSCA Joint Doctoral Training Network, we are delighted to offer 3 PhD positions on the development of Interband Cascade Laser (ICL) arrays, Interband Cascade Detector (ICD) arrays and External Cavity Cascade Lasers (EC-CL) and their application in protein sensing. The positions are located in Gerbrunn, Germany and in full-time.
Your tasks
* You will receive hands on training on the design and fabrication of active and passive photonic components.
* These shall be used in a range of different sensing modalities for measuring protein denaturation.
* At the start of the PhD development, fabrication of active components, i.e. light sources, will be carried out at nanoplus.
* You will learn to operate the laser individually, enabling multi-wavelengths spectroscopy and determine the most relevant wavelengths for monitoring protein structure.
Your profile
* You have completed a degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, natural sciences, nanostructure technology, nanotechnology, or a comparable course of study (university, university of applied sciences, or technical college). As a result, you have gained extensive expertise in the fields of optoelectronics, semiconductor technology, and photonics.
* You are fluent in written and spoken English.
* You enjoy planning and implementing project steps independently, incorporating your ideas.
* You can work in an interdisciplinary team of experts in the field of opto-electronics.
