NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is 5 days over 7.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of interested staff to join the GGC Advanced Practice Physiotherapy team in South and Clyde sectors. We have a variety of posts and can accommodate full or part time working across both Clyde and South Sectors, with input to spine clinics in combination with likely 1 other specialist area from: shoulder, hand, hip and knee. Candidates will be recruited according to previous experience, although additional training will be given.
The post holders will be expected to work as autonomous expert musculoskeletal practitioners in the Orthopaedic clinics utilising highly specialist knowledge to determine appropriate Orthopaedic management e.g. listing for surgery, imaging, and onward referral. Candidates should have evidence of degree in physiotherapy, HCPC registration and evidence of post graduate education relevant to the specialty. Candidates should also have significant post graduate experience, specifically within musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Applicants should have prior experience at AFC Band 7 relevant to MSK / Orthopaedics or be able to demonstrate experience equivalent to Band 7 level. A qualification in joint and soft tissue injections would be preferable.
The service expects a degree of flexibility to meet demands with occasional changes to job plans required. The post holders will be required to lead on service improvement projects and audits, following QI methodology to continually improve patient pathways and experience. The post holders will be required to provide education for colleagues from various specialties. In addition to the Orthopaedic clinics there is a requirement to maintain a physiotherapy clinical caseload of patients with complex conditions and second opinion clinics. This is also subject to change depending on the demands of the orthopaedic service.
Depending on level of experience and current qualifications, applicants may be recruited as APPs or as Trainee APPs, in line with Annex 21 guidance.
