Quality Packaging Manager
Location: Eppelheim, Germany

Department Overview
The Quality Department is dedicated to identifying and eliminating potential risks that may impact the quality of final products. Its mission is to ensure that all processes and requirements of the quality management system are properly implemented and maintained, in order to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
Purpose of the Role
The Quality Packaging Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and food safety of packaging materials and processes, aligning with ADM’s commitment to customer satisfaction.
This role focuses on developing and implementing packaging quality standards in line with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements. By continuously monitoring and optimizing packaging materials and processes—while collaborating closely with the Global Packaging Team—the position aims to reduce customer complaints and improve overall performance.
The role also ensures supplier compliance through structured audit systems, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and manages packaging-related quality issues effectively to enable rapid resolution and long-term prevention.
Accurate documentation and reporting are critical to identifying risks early, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations (including PPWR), and supporting audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
PPWR Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
1. Implement the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) at the local level
2. Ensure recyclability and compliance of all packaging materials
3. Coordinate actions related to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and sustainability
SAP Data Management and PPWR Reporting
4. Maintain accurate SAP data in line with PPWR requirements
5. Develop and manage master data for packaging materials, recycling rates, and suppliers
6. Define interfaces between SAP, central packaging databases, and external reporting systems
7. Generate reports and ensure compliance with legal reporting obligations
8. Prepare documentation for audits and regulatory authorities
Packaging Database and Specifications
Develop and maintain a centralized packaging database
Integrate packaging specifications into quality processes
Ensure proper documentation for compliance and audits
Incoming Goods Inspection
9. Establish quality inspection systems for incoming packaging materials
10. Define inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and escalation procedures
11. Ensure traceability and database integration
Supplier Audits and Quality Assurance
12. Plan and conduct supplier audits
13. Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement actions
14. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 15378, and GMP standards
15. Define and enforce packaging-related processes, including phase-in/phase-out in SAP
Cross-Functional Collaboration
16. Act as the key contact for packaging-related quality and food safety topics
17. Collaborate with the Global Packaging Management Team on technical requirements
Quality Agreements and Coordination
18. Develop quality agreements in collaboration with R&D, Production, and Logistics
19. Ensure alignment and efficiency across departments
20. Claims Management and Problem Solving
21. Manage packaging-related claims in collaboration with Procurement
22. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve product
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
23. Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology or a related field
24. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in food safety and quality management, preferably in packaging
25. Proven experience in managing packaging projects and processes
26. Strong knowledge of packaging regulations and compliance requirements
27. Certification in quality management is a plus
28. Experience in audits and quality inspections
29. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP
30. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
31. Ability to work effectively under pressure
32. Fluent in English (written and spoken)
