Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
Within Intuitive Surgical, EMEA Legal acts as an enabling function to:
1. Actively support the business in pursuit of sustainable goals.
2. Stand for a culture of ethics, care, and responsibility.
3. Empower surgeons to serve patients.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The position is based at the Intuitive office in Freiburg, Germany with currently 3 days/week onsite presence required.
Supported areas include:
4. Commercial operations, including any legal question concerning the DACH Region
5. DACH–specific regulatory questions
6. General litigation in DACH (incl. public procurement and A/R)
7. Product liability in DACH
8. Presence in relevant Industry Association work groups
9. Back-up of the Production Counsel
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
10. Law degree from German, Swiss or Austrian university with 12 years of industry related experience; or 7 years’ experience with a bar exam and/or PhD in law.
11. German speaker, fluent in English (and a further European language is a nice-to-have).
12. Excellent legal drafting skills as well as
13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
14. Excellent training and presentation skills in English and German.
15. Ability to drive pragmatic legal outcomes, working across jurisdictions to ensure global consistency while allowing for local specificities (comparative law thinking acumen).
16. Understanding laws, regulations, industry codes, and best practices governing the medical device industry in DACH jurisdictions.
17. Genuine team player.
18. Flawless and unquestionable integrity, lived up to and clearly communicated as an integral part of your business acumen – with courage, determination, and clarity of purpose.
