ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES : UNIN Team Management Supervise, guide and manage the UN Innovation Network team, a team currently consisting of 6 team members Define goals and workplans for the UN Innovation Network team and ensure their implementation Identify UNIN staff requirements and lead the recruiting and onboarding of new team members Manage the UNIN Budget Support the UN 2.0 Agenda Regularly liaise with the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (EOSG) and UN 2.0 community managers to ensure alignment / avoid duplication of efforts in implementing the UN 2.0 and driving the innovation agenda Feed into / support the development of guidance material, training and ongoing communication raising awareness about the UN 2.0 agenda Conceptualise and run UN 2.0 week in collaboration with EOSG (February 2024) Establish and Scale UN Groups Oversee and provide strategic guidance on UN Groups, including the existing groups on (1) Behavioural Science, (2) Culture, (3) Scaling Innovation, (4) Generative AI and (5) Blockchain, o Activities may include: Conceptualising and running webinars Supporting the development of briefs, resources, guides, toolkits and podcasts Curating available trainings Identifying Entity’s needs and developing tailored offerings to respond to them Setting up fellowship programmes Bring in external expertise to advance thinking and spark partnerships Hosting UN-wide weeks, e.g. UN BeSci Week Identify areas for additional UN Groups and establish interagency partnerships to launch them (e.g. Digital) Develop a guidance document on establishing UN Groups, including metrics of success Represent the Groups in internal and external meetings Nurture partnerships with external partners Support Innovation and Exchange across the UN system Support ongoing innovation efforts across the UN family, including by providing strategic guidance, highlighting opportunities for collaboration and facilitating connections Identify key innovation trends, plan and facilitate regular knowledge sharing events exploring these Compile and publish the UN Innovation Updates highlighting innovation efforts from across the UN Form relationships with key non-UN actors in the field of innovation and identify and create opportunities to bring their knowledge and expertise into the Network Manage external facing communications of the UN Innovation Network, including the website, X and LinkedIn accounts QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : Education: The candidate must have a completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Experience: At least 10 years of progressively responsible international experience international development-related position with at least 8 years’ experience of working in the UN system. Experience in innovation, community management or partnerships is required. Work experience in developing countries is an asse. Knowledge & Skills: Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy Strong conceptual thinking to develop new strategies and innovative projects Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures Able to manage agile, distributed teams across a broad spectrum of topics Strong time management skills with an ability to plan, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work to tight deadlines Strong focus on result and the ability to achieve targets within given and at times short time frames Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to produce high-quality materials, including blog posts, websites, videos and graphically-based presentations Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative Understanding of common challenges of working on data innovation / innovation with the UN Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the United Nations, including through leveraging data and innovation Mobility: Willing to travel as needed Languages: High proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of a second UN language is a plus.
