Description for Candidates:
1. Coordinate the maintenance and repair activities of bridges with VDOT. Ensure the safety, functionality, and longevity of our bridge structures. Develop and implement maintenance plans, coordinating inspections, and provide technical guidance to the bridge maintenance team. Perform special duties as assigned.
How you will contribute:
2. Communication: Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
3. Industry Updates: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, advancements, and regulations related to bridge maintenance, incorporating best practices into the organization's maintenance procedures.
4. Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and assessments of bridge structures to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and structural deficiencies.
5. Maintenance Activities: Plan, schedule, and coordinate the execution of bridge maintenance activities, including routine maintenance, repairs, and rehabilitation projects.
6. Maintenance Projects : Monitor and evaluate the progress and quality of maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and safety protocols.
7. Maintenance Records: Maintain accurate records and documentation of all bridge maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
8. Perform duties as assigned.: Perform duties, tasks, activities and/or projects as assigned.
9. Regulations: Develop and implement comprehensive bridge maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
10. Support: Provide technical expertise and support to other departments, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required.
11. Teamwork: Collaborate with engineering teams to assess and address structural issues, recommending appropriate solutions and strategies.
12. Training: Coordinate activities for a team of bridge maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

Additional Considerations:
28. A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field desired.
29. Professional certifications related to bridge maintenance, such as the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certification desired.
