This covers all current Local National employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, including U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe within Germany. Hauptaufgaben Interprets from German into English and vice versa, between U.S. Military Police personnel and German-speaking individuals during interrogations, discussions, meetings and conferences. Interpretations must be fluent and particularly during interrogations, portray the exact meaning of statements made. May be required to interpret during court hearings. Translates from German into English and vice versa, various correspondence, such as statements, investigative reports, medical certificates, reports, newspaper articles, general correspondence, inquiries, and similar documentation. Translations must be factually and syntactically correct, idiomatically fluent, and rendered in such clarity as to prevent misunderstandings and legal implications. Receives, researches, and responds to telephonic inquiries for basic information or data pertaining to Provost Marshal Office functions, internal operating procedures and reporting requirements. Prepares routine correspondence and reports from available data in compliance with established guidelines. Maintains records, reports and files in accordance with approved record keeping systems. Periodically reviews records and files and follows disposition plan. Uses word processing software to input/edit correspondence and reports, which include a wide variety of technical terminology, and formats/prints (through use of automation printing equipment) in final form in accordance with regulatory requirements. Types such documents as travel orders, work requests, personnel actions and other types of documents not formatted to automation input or database. Uses reference sources such as technical dictionaries, correspondence regulations and manual/automated spell checks to assure proper arrangements, grammatical and spelling accuracy of the final copy. Performs other duties as assigned.
