Description for Candidates:
1. Serve as a licensed professional tradesman that oversees work being performed by contractors. Sign off on work orders upon completion to acknowledge work was performed in compliance with state building code requirements. Perform and oversee all facilities related maintenance and repair work.
How you will contribute:
2. Documentation for Projects: Prepare and deliver to management necessary paperwork to document in-house and contractor work; to include photo documentation, record drawings, equipment manuals, and other project specific materials and documents. Maintain accurate records within our Maintenance Management System. Report inaccuracies, deficiencies, contractor performances, and inspection reports to immediate supervisor or Facilities Manager.
3. Emergency Operations: Perform and respond to unscheduled or emergency repairs on all VDOT property types. Ensures 24/7 availability for responding to emergency events.
4. Hands-on Facilities Work: Perform trade specific work maintaining industry standards and code compliance. Complete work orders as assigned. Perform other duties assigned as directed by immediate supervisor/manager. This may include Key Control Management and Warehouse Inventory Control.
5. Permits and Work Orders: Obtain required permits through VDOT's annual building permit procedure and issue work orders to appropriate contractors.
6. Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance and inspections according to manufacturer’s recommendations and schedules. Include recommendations for critical parts inventory, upgrades, energy efficiency and deem necessary for replacement when at end of life. Provides ideas and concepts to improve energy efficiency efforts.
7. Project and Contractor Oversight: Oversee Facilities project work performed by contractors under term contracts and publicly procured construction projects. Ensure work is performed to industry standards of the trade, code compliance, and sign off as completed accordingly. Contact appropriate subcontractor assistance for maintenance and repairs as necessary.

14. Skill in building trades and construction such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and masonry.
15. Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment used in building trades.
16. Skill in the use of computers, software applications, digital cameras, mobile devices and Building Automation Systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
17. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

20. Ability to manage projects and administer contracts related to facilities operations.
21. Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Certificate - Technical Type Universal.
22. Ability to perform physically demanding labor in extreme heat and cold, lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on uneven ground.
23. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints, building and fire codes.
24. Knowledge of building trades and construction e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and masonry, etc.
25. Possession of and ability to maintain Virginia DPOR issued Master HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical license.
26. Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment used in building trades.
27. Skill in the use of computers, software applications, digital cameras, Building Automation Systems.
Additional Considerations:
28. Experience in building construction as project inspector, superintendent or project manager.
29. Experience with outsourcing approach to facilities management.
30. Facilities Management Professional certification
31. Knowledge of MMS software, specifically Facility Force.
32. Multiple Virginia DPOR tradesman licensures.
33. OSHA 30 type General Industry or Construction certification.
34. Possession of EPA Certificate - Technical Type Universal.
35. Possession of Responsible Land Disturber (RLD) certification.
36. Project Manager Professional certification.
