We are looking for an Underwriter - Engineering, Natural Resources, based in Munich.
Your Team
Our seasoned team takes ownership of top key accounts and clients, skilfully navigating through complex negotiations to ensure optimal participation, pricing, and terms and conditions. You will work in a team of highly experienced and motivated Underwriters with a great team spirit. The team is always open to support and learn from each other.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Chief Underwriter Natural Resources GER/SUI, you will join the team as an Underwriter, who will aim to make profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business (LoB) targets regionally including global elements. We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving and developing a customer centric culture at Allianz Commercial and loves to work in a global matrix organization. Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
* Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets (regionally including global elements).
* Grow the Renewables portfolio (on- and offshore) and other technologies of the Energy Transition including e.g. modern efficient hydrogen ready combined cycle power plants and increase our presence in these changing markets.
* Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers. Proactively manage capacity.
* Underwrite in line with LoB governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.
* Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception.
* Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB regionally.
* Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market with key brokers / distribution channels.
* Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. Distribution, ARC, Claims, Operations.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers).
What You’ll Bring to the Role
* Preferably a degree in Engineering, Economics, or other appropriate discipline.
* Experience in Underwriting profitable business in the Natural Resources or Engineering market. Good understanding of sub-LoB products and portfolio.
* Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market.
* Specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global element.
* Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework.
* Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB.
* Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings.
* Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire.
* The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Fluent German and English language skills.
