Scientific Officer (f/m/x) German Centre for Astrophysics (DZA) Görlitz, Saxony, Germany Job Overview As part of the establishment of the DZA, we are looking for a Scientific Officer to coordinate, manage, and supervise scientific projects, primarily in gravitational-wave astronomy and silicon technologies. Responsibilities Coordinate and support scientific working groups. Manage projects, including time, resource, and task planning. Administer, control, and report on third‑party funding, including interim and final reports. Write and manage research proposals for national and international funding bodies (e.g., DFG, BMBF, EU). Support project leadership in administrative and scientific management. Coordinate collaboration with scientific, technical, and administrative partners in Germany and internationally. Manage scientific data and quality, including database development and documentation. Prepare, analyze, and present scientific content; contribute to publications and studies. Monitor and evaluate project progress and results. Maintain professional networks and represent the DZA in national and international research collaborations. Requirements Completed master’s degree/diploma and PhD in physics, engineering, or a related field. Experience in scientific project management and coordination of interdisciplinary research projects. Knowledge of national and European research funding programmes (e.g., DFG, BMBF, EU Framework Programmes). Experience writing and coordinating research proposals. Knowledge of scientific data management and quality assurance. Familiarity with the establishment and operation of scientific research infrastructures. Desirable: expertise in gravitational‑wave detection and instrumental physics. Excellent command of English (spoken and written) and solid working knowledge of German. Strong teamwork and communication skills, interdisciplinary approach, and organisational talent. Analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking abilities.
