Overview
This is a key leadership position in Medical Affairs in Germany, Europe. The role actively participates in and leads a broad range of medical affairs activities in Oncology/Hematology, including the development of medical strategies for Germany, support for investigator initiated research (IIR) programs, management of the German Medical Science Liaisons (MSL) team, and medical review of Medical Affairs materials and promotional materials. It also has oversight over the Clinical Operations team for Oncology/Hematology and IAI/Dermatology.
Responsibilities
* Represent Germany in the Incyte International Medical Affairs Leadership Team, providing feedback to global and regional initiatives
* Develop and execute effective medical strategies locally in alignment with the local leadership team
* Lead and manage the German Medical Affairs Oncology/Hematology team
* Participate in the German leadership team and provide Medical Affairs input to the German organization
* Drive strategic alignment so that Brand Team integration and MSL execution reflect the medical strategy
* Oversee Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) activities in Germany
* Collaborate with the MSL Lead to build and maintain relationships with KEE and investigators; conduct site visits as needed; educate and train MSLs and field force
* Work with the local Director Clinical Operations and Clinical Research Associates to support site selection, patient recruitment, and management of national and international clinical studies
* Coordinate with the Medical Director IAI on organizational alignment and best practice sharing
* Participate in national advisory boards and investigator meetings; support data presentation and discussion
* Review medical, promotional and sales training materials for scientific/medical accuracy; provide medical review and sign-off of medical drug information letters, slides, responses, publications, grants, and other materials as needed
* Serve as an on-call expert to address healthcare professional questions
* Define and develop required team competencies (with HR) to recruit and retain the local medical team
* Monitor team performance against medical plans and identify development opportunities
* Allocate and oversee the local medical budget
* Act as a senior company representative internally and externally
* Foster a culture aligned with Incyte values and high ethical standards; ensure compliance with legal and company guidelines
Requirements
* MD, PhD, PharmD with 10+ years in academic, clinical, or industry settings
* Successful people management experience with a minimum of 2+ years
* Hematology/oncology experience required
* Familiarity with GCP/ICH/FDA requirements, clinical trial design, biostatistics, medical writing, product safety, and regulatory affairs
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; strong public speaking ability
* Excellent leadership and management skills; ability to influence and operate in a matrix environment
* Ability to travel up to 30% of working time
