Job Overview
Healthcare Professionals are needed to provide medical services to supplement the medical staff in support of the Military Treatment Facilities and Health Clinics within US Army Medical Command, Regional Health Command Europe and for other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies including US Navy and US Air Forces in Europe. Note: Orthotist. This position specializes primarily in providing care to patients with disabling conditions of the limbs and spine by fitting them with orthotic devices (orthopedic shoes or braces).
Prosthetist. This position specializes primarily in providing care to patients with partial or total absence of a limb by fitting them with prosthetic devices (artificial limbs).
Qualifications
5. Degree: Bachelor's Degree.
6. Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Alternatively, can have graduated from physical therapy or occupational therapy training program.
7. Certification: Possess and maintain a current Certification in Athletic Training through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC). Alternatively can maintain certification as a physical therapist or occupational therapist.
8. Experience: One year of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist after graduation.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
9. Perform a full range of Certified Athletic Trainer duties. All services performed shall fall within those guidelines established by the National Athletic Trainers Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
10. Prevent, recognize, treat and rehabilitate injuries.
11. Provide evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries incurred, including, but not limited to the following: progressive resistance exercise (PRE), open and closed chain kinetic exercises, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), manual therapy and joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, hydrocollator, cryotherapy, ultrasound, phonophoresis, iontophoresis, and all varieties of muscle stimulation.
12. Provide treatment for soft tissue damage, acute and chronic edema, post-surgical edema, muscle atrophy, pain, overuse injuries, decreased circulation and loss of strength due to injury or biomechanical imbalance.
13. Provide emergency first aid, evaluation and treatment of injuries, and aid in preliminary diagnosis to include recognition of severity of injury, rendering initial treatment and performing initial examination.
14. Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment and braces for the prevention and treatment of injuries including the use of proper taping techniques.

This position is eligible for support under NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) supplemental agreement articles 72 or 73.
