Who We Are Looking For
Compliance supports the Executive Management Board (EMB) of State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI) and SSBI employees in their responsibility to comply with laws and regulations applicable to the Bank’s business activities, products/services and functions. This position, ideally based in Munich or Frankfurt, is perfect for someone with expertise in Compliance risk management within the financial services sector, and a good understanding of ESG-related regulatory obligations and their impact on financial institutions.
Work Model
This role can be performed in a hybrid model, allowing you to balance work from home (2 days per week) and office (3 days in Frankfurt or Munich) to suit your needs and role requirements.
Role Importance
You will lead the ESG Compliance function for SSBI, playing a crucial role in ensuring successful ESG implementation. As regulations around sustainability, green finance, diversity, inclusion, and human rights strengthen, EU financial regulators expect banks to comply with these standards. We seek a candidate with strong ESG knowledge to help stakeholders navigate these challenges, develop standards, and mitigate regulatory risks associated with ESG obligations.
Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with SSBI leadership to implement a robust ESG Compliance strategy aligned with the Global Compliance framework.
2. Stay informed on ESG risks, trends, and regulatory developments, advising management accordingly.
3. Develop and maintain an ESG Compliance governance structure meeting MaRisk and EU expectations.
4. Spearhead the development of a comprehensive ESG risk management framework.
5. Support strategic prioritization and develop controls to prevent or remediate regulatory deficiencies.
6. Define and guide risk assessments related to ESG obligations.
7. Manage monitoring, testing, and reporting on ESG regulatory risks.
8. Maintain a regulatory database and adapt policies to emerging ESG regulations.
9. Participate in initiatives for ESG implementation, including data and technology needs.
10. Advise on ESG considerations in governance, performance, and remuneration.
11. Ensure disclosures and reporting meet regulatory and industry standards.

Qualifications
* Degree in a related discipline.
* 5-10 years' experience in ESG Compliance or related fields.
* Fluency in English and German.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools.
* Certifications in Compliance, ESG, or Audit are a plus.
