1. Developing company-wide perspectives on underwriting-related topics at Munich Re
2. Identifying, analyzing and following up on Casualty underwriting related topics, trends and developments with high strategic relevance for our Casualty portfolio and deriving recommendations
3. Setting best practice standards, underwriting guidelines, policies and strategies for all aspects of underwriting and implementing appropriate quality assurance measures
4. Supporting and advising the underwriting units on daily questions and complex issues pertaining to the underwriting of individual Casualty treaties or risks, including non-traditional reinsurance
5. Analyzing and assessing complex and/or large treaties and single risks or new products
6. Leading or participating in underwriting related cross-divisional projects and reviews
7. Quality assurance of publications and presentations in the line of business topics
8. Development of line of business relevant knowledge including design and implementation of corresponding training measures in cooperation with CU Knowledge Management
9. Recognizing any need for generating and transferring Line of business specific underwriting knowledge within the Group and developing and carrying out initiatives to improve the underwriting excellence in the business units
10. Stakeholder management including regular communication measures appropriate for the target groups (e.g. business units, other CU units)
Your Profile
11. Recognized expert in Casualty with in-depth knowledge and several years of extensive practical experience in operational underwriting, ideally including experience in US Casualty business and/or with international clients
12. Ability to combine a strong technical underwriting background with excellent strategic skills, strong ability to abstract and think holistically, conceptually and strategically
13. Sound understanding of portfolios and portfolio steering, including Munich Re’s tool and reporting landscape
14. Strong understanding of legal environments and changing legal landscapes
15. A strong passion for performance, a willingness to take on responsibility, and the ability to make sound decisions, while inspiring others with enthusiasm and commitment
16. Extensive experience in project management with a proven track record of successful project execution
17. Enjoyment in tackling complex and innovative challenges in a dynamic and demanding environment
18. Good understanding of business challenges and solution-orientation
19. Methodological and didactic skills, inter-cultural competence
20. Team player with experience working alongside diverse stakeholders
21. Keen interest in emerging topics, trends, and developments, such as emerging risks and exposures
22. Excellent networking abilities
23. Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
